Closed Loop Water Recycling

The aqueous cleaning process reaches maximum efficiency by closed-looping most or all of the process.  Complete recycling offers savings:

  • in water usage - the only water used is make up water for evaporative losses and tank fills

  • in DI costs - cleaner effluent typically has 10X less ion contamination then well or city water

  • in energy costs - much of the heat energy in drain bound water is conserved

  • in municipal treatment costs - little or no water is sent to drain, so sewer assessments are virtually eliminated.

In addition to these savings, the initial capital cost are equal to or less then the cost of an open loop system.  In an open loop system, a tap water DI system is required, as well as high powered DI compatible heater.  A well designed closed loop system will provide heated DI water at a consistent flow and pressure rate while conserving both water and energy.

Process control is improved when a state-of-the-art closed loop system.  All the fluid dynamics are managed and water quality is continuously monitored.  A DI water compatible heater can be integrated to guarantee optimal rinsing and drying temperature.

Medium-to-high volume applications, or areas with poor incoming facilities water, can benefit by integrating a reverse osmosis (RO) system.  The PCB cleaner will lose water from evaporation and exhaust and dryer section drag out.  Facilities make up water is required to maintain system operation.  All make up water can be passed through a reverse osmosis unit removing approximately 96 to 98% of the miscellaneous total dissolved solids.  This pretreatment step will extend longevity of the ion exchange tanks and that saves money!

Value-Loop Platform:

The Value-loop is REsys's most popular platform, it is an economical package to efficiently support a busy in-line PCB cleaning system.  The system is installed in close proximity to the cleaner, which allows it to be gravity fed eliminating the cost of a sump pump (transfer station).

Aqua-Loop Platform:

The Aqua-Loop is a larger platform and can be installed in a remote location.  A larger pump and holding tank provides the additional capacity to place the equipment off the main production area.  In regions that do not allow effluent discharge, the onboard tank can store the cleaner's effluent during routine maintenance.  The Aqua-loop can be a factory upgraded to support dual in-line cleaners.  Generally speaking, the Aqua-loop is a medium to high volume platform.

Titan Platform:

Ideally suited for chemistry cleaning application, the Titan has an onboard (RO) system to purity incoming make-up water.  State-of-the-art in-line cleaning system divert water from the recirculating rinse to supply the chemical isolation rinse (1 to 2 GPM).  The onboard (RO) system, efficiently replenishes the water lost to the chemical isolation rinse.  In addition, an in-line booster can be added to compensate for the temperature drop from the incoming (RO) water.
