Stencil Cleaning

Although surface mount assembly involves significant capital expenditure and state-of-the-art technology, stencil cleaning is often done manually with hand wipes.  This process directly exposes workers to lead and does not fully clean the small holes of a complex stencil.

In recent years, several aqueous-based machines have come to market that offer a safe, effective means of cleaning stencils.  These systems, however, produce effluent that is contaminated with lead and is typically high in pH.  Both of these characteristics preclude compliant release to drain.
